Charles M. Russell Wildlife Refuge

Years ago Hubby and I visited the Charles M. Russell Wildlife Refuge in the early fall. It has been on my list of things to revisit ever since. The bugs are hellacious but the scenery and elk make it well worth the visit. During the day we sat in the sun enjoying the view along the Missouri River, listening to the invisible elk stomping through the willows, hitting trees and bugling as they went. Just before sunset they began to wonder out into the meadow and the show began. This visit the willows had noticeably begun to fill in the meadow but there was still room for quite a show. Bulls ran from one cow to another trying to keep their harem safe and away from other bulls. An occasional fight would break out but usually the smaller of the bulls would slowly wander off choosing not to expel to much energy. On our first visit years ago, we left at sunset for the two hour drive home but this time we stayed in our little home away from home and there was a surprise in st...
It appears I'm not the only person with a dying problem! I found this solution on a podcaster's blog and want to remember it for future use! (Family, In the future I'll do this on all socks you get before they are sent to you!) http://www.betterthanyarn.com/2014/10/problems-and-solutions.html

A lesson learned!

Recently I got the idea to dye some Christmas sock yarn. I decided to dye the yarn in the sun using food coloring: The yarn was approximately divided into thirds and placed in Christmas red and green water laced with citric acid. In hindsight I did not allow the sun "do it's thing". Which is why I'm now writing this post! When the water became clear I quickly rinsed the yarn and hung it to dry. When I began knitting them they became a perfect pair of Christmas Ribbon Candy Socks! There was some leftover yarn so I knit a pair for one of the boys: Then giving the socks the finishing touch, I began blocking them........Oh, no! My ribbon candy socks began melting all over! What had been a beautiful pair of Christmas socks became a pink mess: I put them away not really knowing how I was going to remedy this tragic disaster.  Then one day not long ago, I was listening to a podcast when light bulb went on! I hadn't had enough heat on the origina...

Wedding photos

I wish I hadn't relied on Hubby to take wedding photos, he took very few. Hubhy's brother and sister in law The bride and groom For a man that loves to take pictures I'm not sure what happened. Live and learn.

Rainy Seattle

We left early (up at 3:30 am and and at the airport at 4:45) Thursday morning and flew to Seattle for Hubby's nephews wedding. Because of the cloudy weather, we made a short stop at the Portland airport before heading into Sea-Tac Airport. Hubby wanted to head straight to Pikes Street Market in downtown Seattle. The flowers were amazing! We wandered through the shops and had a nice lunch before heading to the Seattle Aquarium. Oh, my! The traffic! by the time we got to our motel we'd decided that our touristy visits would be greatly curtailed.  Friday we went to a quaint town full of antique shops and then Saturday, the day of the wedding, we went to Snoqualmie Falls. Busy days! Saturday evening was the wedding and a beautiful evening!
