"Mom, you're over reacting!"

Bobbing back and forth Polly thought she was playing Peek-A-Boo on the deck railing this morning but I'm pretty sure it was a potential homicide. Denali had murder on her mind, it's over a one story drop on the other side of the rail! (No big blue skies in Montana this morning, we have been smoked in for days. Fires are all over in the state.)

Spirit scarf and mittens

It's hard for me to think of Little SadieLouWho in high school but that's where she's headed this fall. I'm proud of her for making the Sophomore volleyball team. When coach told the girls they had to run an eight minute mile to join the team, SadieLou practiced until she could run a 7:38 mile. Dedication! I thought I'd add just a little spirit to her fall line up of sports and knit a Blue Jay scarf and warm mittens. (Would love better photos!) Totality awesome adventure!

A knitter's gotta knit no matter what's happening Early last spring I caught wind of the up coming eclipse crossing the continent on August 21st. I immediately began trying to reserve first a hotel room ($1,000 a night/3 night minimum), then a state camping site (all full), and finally a private campground in Glenrock, Wyoming ($60 per night two night minimum).  Things later went crazy, hotels reportedly went for $3,000 per night. People rented out their front lawns with household bathroom privileges for $300 a night but then called the original renters to say they had a waiting list of people who would rent from them for $500 a night and the original renters needed to send more money or cancel - an eclipse ransom. We rented our campsite, bought our special glasses, invited The Chick, The NorDak Family, and the California Dreamin' families to come along.  Only The Chick was able to accept, the beginning of school getting in the way for the others. Months went by

Super power socks

It's hard to believe school is just around the corner. I have had my "Back to school" dream but quickly remembered "School's out FOREVER" in this household. The Tiger is starting a new school this fall and instead of knitting him a pair of "Lucky Socks" I thought I'd have him test some "Super Power Socks" and we'll see which work better in Middle School! A summer visit to ND

The Chick and I had been planning a visit to the NorDakFamily for quite a while. At first we had grand plans and were going to visit Canada and then drop down into North Dakota for a stay with family but then who would take care of Miss Zoey? So we decided to reverse the trip and leave Zoey with Hubby. Friends began to tell us Canada to the North is just like the area we live in.....hmm...prairie. So in the end we just traveled east and spend some lovely summer days with family and headed home! Hubby had originally said he would keep the household going but as the summer progressed with the busy fire season he had no idea if he would be home or away fighting fires. I'm lucky my good friend Jo stepped in and did the daily feeding and watering of pets and plants. The Chick and I brought our paddle boards and we spent three afternoons on the lake. The Tiger worked hard to improve his skills.  Although there wasn't much piano practice we were able to listen to a conc
