A traveling day in Ecudaor

After a lovely three days on Isabella Island it was time for a long day's travel. We hopped onboard the speed boat and watch the sunrise as we retraced our path back to Santa Cruz Island. It was a much smoother ride back to Puerto Ayora and hubby had a premiere view up top with the captain. We visited a family owned farm where the tortoises are everywhere and I was told this is the standard on the island. On the Galapagos, tortoises ARE KING OF THE ROAD! Land Tortoises are free roaming on Santa Cruz. They are thought to live 150 years but this is an estimate. The rings on their shells are not like that on a tree and do not indicate age. These creatures haven't been studied long enough for scientists to have a precise method to find their age. They can't swim but do like to sit in shallow ponds.
