Afterschool knitting

For the past three years students have come after school twice a month to learn to knit. The girls now range from third through fifth grade. These girls are turning into a dedicated group of knitters. Besides the hats and slippers students are knitting a pillow, a blanket and even a sweater! The girls are beginning to feel confident enough to jump in and help each other when there's a problem. I'm so proud of them!

Chloe's first tandem

As I sat home yesterday happily knitting on "The Tiger's" Tomtem Sweater, my eldest grandchild was soaring high above the ground and loving every second of it! Oh, what has happened to my timid little Chloe - the darling little toddler - that I held in my arms as she watched The Jungle Book , having to assure her time and again that everyone would be safe, that no one would come to any harm? Chloe's taking off, ...soaring over the ocean, to a happy and safe landing! Sometimes it's better for Grammas to find out about BIG events after the fact!

Dino dig July 2008!

I've been busy finishing work on a class that I took last July - and I have missed my Happy Hours Friday Afternoon Knitting Group enormously. I will be happy to see them tomorrow! I thought I'd just share a few moments of the great memories I have of that week:

In the swim of things

I loved making these hats. (The pattern is on Knitty.com) My nephews are great swimmers and live by the ocean. When they go out into the cold what could be better than to be eaten by a fish? They love these bright hats that can't be missed. Even pulling a face, you just gotta love that Sammie!
Grandchildren are wonderful! The family took a wonderful trip earlier this spring. I advise emergency knitting on a long plane trip! A new pair of socks were created on the flight over and back. We arrived in Hawaii, and all grandchildren are accounted for! This was the first morning that all four kiddos were together and they didn't miss a beat - even after nine months of being apart. They were so happy just to be together and they didn't know what was in store, the biggest sandbox they had ever seen. The end of a wonderful trip......
