Hawaii February 2016

All the family was glad to have 2015 behind us and thrilled to say ALOHA to 2016! We'd been planning this trip for a year. The only thing missing was the California Dreamin' Family.

The kiddos had been looking forward to coming back to Paradise since they left the island 6 years before!

They arrived late in the evening and after a good night's sleep we were up and on the beach by 8:30 GT (that "Grandpa Time" he loves to make every minute count when we're in Paradise!) The kiddos didn't miss a beat and were quickly playing is the sand, hiking and in the water!
We were at the state park one afternoon looking at pictographs when a park ranger told us about an activity planned at Turtle Bay - one of our favorite places to go when the sand is blowing in the kiddos faces! They had food native to the area, outrigger canoe rides, talks on turtles and demonstrations on tsunomi waves. It was a great family activity for a Saturday afternoon by the ocean.
We took family photos at the same place as 2009:

Oops, did someone just loose his swim trunks?

Between the little bit of touristy things it was always back to the beach!! Whether paddle boarding, snorkeling, or boogie boarding it was all fun!
One afternoon we went into Kona and had lunch at Troy Boy's favorite place on the island, Kona Brewing Co., we enjoyed ourselves and had just a few Longboards!
The last birthday anyone spent in Hawaii was The Chick's 3rd birthday -  just a few years ago! When we realize she was going to celebrate another birthday on the Big Island we had to plan a party with Cake On The Ocean!
One day Hubby and I hiked down to the ocean at the northern most end of the Big Island,
and another day the rest of the family went to the southernmost end of the island AND the United States in search of the green sand beach,
but most of our stay was spent at the beach, playing in the sand and frolicking in the sea!
Sadly, the time came to say goodbye to each family member as they left and finally to our beloved spot on the Big Island.  Aloha, and hopefully it won't be long before we are all back in Paradise once again!
