The lone baby quilt of 2019

I had been struggling to make a cute little boy's quilt. Unhappy with the one I was working on, I laid it aside and consequently hadn't completed a quilt this year. In early December I finally abandoned the original one and I again searched the quilt book for a new pattern, went to the store and bought new fabric. I'm very pleased with the result...  and Michael seems content with it as well.   With leftover quilt pieces I made a doll quilt for a baby doll I hope Anna will care for as her Momma cares for Michael.

Welcome baby boy!

The Monday after Thanksgiving brought more family. Hubby's nephew and little family were awaiting the arrival of their second child. They live hours away from the hospital and so we all began waiting for the arrival of our grand nephew who was on his own schedule.  It was so nice to see a little one once again playing with the Little People! Anna loved the squirrel family who lives in the tree stump her Great Grandmother Maida gave the kiddos many years ago!  Momma spend many hours walking trying to get things going. Anna enjoyed the Christmas decorations.  Finally, Michael made his appearance!

Thanksgiving 2019

This Thanksgiving the family had a lovely week together. It was filled with relaxing and Christmas shopping. Both NorDak grandkids decided to partake in the craziness of Black Friday Sales. When all bargains were bought and picked up at various stores, we were lucky to have a place in the car to squeeze into!   We were able to spend an hour at the local escape room. Sadly, we didn't solve the mystery but each time we try a new room we get just a little closer to a solution. Maybe next time!  The weatherman predicted the weather would turn cold, snowy and icy Friday afternoon. The travelers decided to cut the festivities short a couple days head home early. It proved to be a wise decision and everyone arrived home before the worst of the storm hit.

Charity knitting

I did a little charity knitting this month and enjoyed knitting the baby items. Although I usually use leftover stash yarn I want them to be quality knits, something I'd give as gifts at a baby shower. This is a cute little Norwegian baby hat. I like it but might be just a bit old fashioned for most Moms. I don't think I'll be knitting it again soon. Pattern: Yarn: Norwegian Sweet Baby Cap by Gro Yarn: Schachenmayr Regia Festival Color 4-Fadig/4-ply Colorway: 2877 Needle Size: US Size 1.5 and US Size 2.5 Pattern: This was an experiment I tried. I wanted to knit some newborn tube socks but the sizing is off and I'll need to continue my experimenting. These are probably a 3-6 month size. Yarn: Zwerger Garn Opal Reiselust 6-fach/6ply Colorway: 9427 Laoas Needle Size: US Size 1 Pattern: Seed Stitch Yoke Cardigan by Nichole Reese Yarn: Leftover bits Cascade 220 Colorway: Blues Needle Size: Us Size 7 The little sweater was quite fulfilling but there ...

Christmas sweater for Anna

I wanted to practice my helical knitting and thought the color choice would be nice. The finished fabric is okay, I’m not impressed with my finished project and am not sure it is gift worthy, but hope Anna will enjoy wearing it during the cold winter. Pattern: Flax Light by tincanknits Yarn: Cascade Yarns Heritage 150 and Schachenmyr Regia Festival Color 4-Fadig Colorway: Italian Plum and Color 02877 Needle Size: US Size 2 and 5
