We also shared our children over many summers. The girls would travel back and forth, spending many hours playing with their cabbage patch dolls and splashing in the water.
For several years Kendy and I, with our five girls in tow, would spend a week at Flathead Lake. People would stop us on the street and ask if we were a girl scout troop! The girls remember the work chart. Each day we were assigned a task to be accomplished: sweep, cook dinner, do the dishes etc. It was on a paper plate with an arrow moving one space a day. The little girls panicked but it was carefully planned and Kendy and I were always there to pick up the pieces. We would go to the Big Fork Theater for a play during our stay at the lake. The first year we noticed that the front row was always made to stand up and embarrassed by having to take a bow. So the second year Kendy made sure to get front row seats and when we were introduced the joke was on the MC because the seven of us donned glasses with a big nose and mustache when we stood!
This birthday has just made more memories for us to hold dear...
