Wow! a pair of Wollmeise socks!

When Darlene, a coworker and fellow knitter, went to Germany she brought back many skeins of Wollmeise and was very willing to share with our knitting group! She knew how badly I wanted to knit with this yarn so not only did she allow me to I buy some but she gave me a couple of skeins as well. This is the second skein she gave me, remember the first is the lovely beaded shawl .  I wanted something special around my neck to show it off but, alas, the yarn had a different idea! After two tries, The Zulu Petal Cowl and the Unleaving Scarf, I turned to what the yarn was intended to be…socks! Several other people have used the stitch pattern in Flecktone Mitts to knit socks. What a great design! With black, brown and blue yarn who could go wrong?  Pattern: Flecktone Mitts - stitch pattern Yarn: Wollmeise Colorway: Blue black and brown Needles: US Size 1 Amount: 300 meters

Another "Run In with The Law"

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know about my sorted past with the law, see August 22, 2009.   Recently, while on my lunch break I was driving down Johnson Lane, the scene of the last crime. The sun was shining after a long gray spring, my window was down and summer music was playing on the radio. When, very unexpectedly, over the horizon came a law official. I immediately looked down at the speedometer and dang, it said 45mph! He made a "U-y" and turned on his lights.  The conversation went something like this: "Ma'am, do you know why I stopped you?" "Yes, I was going 45mph." "Do you know the speed limit on this road?" "Yes, 35mph,  I've been picked up on this road before. I was daydreaming." "Can I have your, license. registration and proof of insurance and I 'll just go back to my car." "Yes, sir." Off he went. And I began "talking" to my Mom. (No, not...

Socks for the big boy

I had a sock almost done when the NorDak family arrived at Easter. Before putting in the toe I wanted to make sure of the fit for the big boy. He was so tickled and now I understand why, he's never had a pair of socks that fit! Alas, when the first sock was finished, I wanted a break from the “could be a Christmas Stocking if it were the right color” sock! I knit a couple of items and then got back to work…except I ran out of yarn! Off to the yarn shop. I've finished the tip of the toe and now I have enough for another “regular” pair of socks! Pattern: My own - just knit! Yarn: Cascade Heritage Sock Colorway: Brown Amount: Just a tish more than a skein Needles: US Size 1
